“A really great and personal quote you want the world to know…”
Upon entering Sarah’s long narrow studio, whose large windows face west toward those iconic silos that have become the building’s beacon, you immediately notice the large rows of shelves organized by everyday material and tool types, like brushes, tape, and scissors. These old warn-out brushes and other common painting tools Sarah so often uses when she’s working on a commission or her found-object work informs her practice. She’s been at this for over 35 years and began making art in High school in England and came over to the U.S. when she was out of college. A mixed-media artist known for her delicate collage work. Below are photos taken in the summer of 2019 inside Sarah’s studio. Pulling from found driftwood, she begins to develop a series of sculptures dedicated to birds and cranes that mimic the shapes of her inspired material.
